2nd Annual Backyard Olympic Games

Last weekend the future Corbell family held the second annual backyard Olympics, and to say it was a blast would be an understatement. First off, I tip my hat to Katie and Jarred for putting together this whole shin dig. All I did was show up with some pumpkin bread and a table; they are the masterminds behind this great tradition.

So a week out before the games there is usually a big email that goes out on who wants to participate and when the games will be held. Then we have a happy hour where all the names are drawn out of a hat for who is teamed up with who. This year my teammate was Grior : ) I've been lucky so far with having great teammates ( if they consider themselves lucky, may be another story lol).

There are six games that every team will compete against another team in, and you only have 15 mins or less per station to play each game. So at the end of the timed round whoever is winning moves forward period. For example in beer pong: one play only has two cups the other has three and time has been called- even though  the game is not technically over who ever has the least amount of cups left wins that round.  The games are as follows:

Quarters
Washers
Cornhole
Beer Pong
Ladder Ball
Flip Cup

Ricky was originally suppose to play but had a last minute flight to Vegas for work. He was pretty bummed he couldn't participate this year, but I could think of worse places he could have been.  The theme this year was " What are thankful for" kinda on the lines of Thanksgiving coming up this week ; )
The official rules are posted for everyone to reference at all times

Andy came down from Kileen! Her and Anna were Seminoles, Love it

Ryan and I's first match was in quarters

Unfortunately, we lost and as part of the rules you must salute the winners on one knee. But in our defense we were the first to play this game and we did not know it was best two out of three. We only lost the first round, lol

Some of the lovely ladies who came by to watch the festivities

We won the washers round- they weren't very happy to kneel to us lol

As mentioned earlier we had a big battle at our beer pong round. As time was called both teams had only one cup left, and we went into sudden death. We each got at least one ball in the sudden death round 3 times in a row until finally.... Jarred got the last one in for the win. It was a blast! ( not the most flattering picture of me though, but figured it was needed to document the great battle, lol)

There were things like Fan Fest 2012 and the First Annual Circuit of the America's Formula 1 race going on downtown, but I swear this was the place to be! Needless to say I passed out by 7pm on the couch at home, lol. Have an awesome Thanksgiving Holiday!! I can't wait to be in Tallahassee next weekend for the FSU vs. UF game I am SOOOO EXCITED!!!
have a great week- Luv Di

His & Hers concerts

A little while ago I won tickets to another ACL Live taping at the Moody Theater downtown. It was for a band called Delta Spirit, and they were awesome! They also performed at the ACL City Limits festival, but it was early Friday afternoon and I didn't make it in time from work. This was sooooo much better :)

Ricky took a picture of me while waiting in line to be seated
So I in turn took one of him : )

Our view of the stage before the show

I was bold this time and snuck a picture during the show!!!

We had met up with friends for drinks and some eats at East Side Kings before the show. So we decided to take a cab from the bar to the show, and this was our sweet ride back to the east side to pick Ricky's truck up. Ricky signed up for free membership of the Car2go program, and I have to admit it's pretty handy. You look up on the app where a car may be, and then drive it and leave it where ever your destination may be. All you do is pay by the minute for it's use. He started out with Originally 35 minutes and we haven't even used them all yet. It only took us maybe 10 minutes at most to go across downtown,; it was just that simple.

Our original Plan was to head to Houston on Friday, but we only found out a few days before the Delta Spirit show that we won free tickets to the taping so we decided to stay for the show that night. Unfortunately, I had already agreed to help out with my company's Houston Branch inventory audit first thing Saturday morning. So at 5am on Saturday we headed out to Houston, needless to say we weren't super excited to be in the car at that point ; )It actually went by pretty fast and I was out of the office by 1pm . Since I was staying with my family and not getting a hotel for the night I was also able to take everyone out to dinner, compliments of Laird.

Ricky had purchased tickets for Katie, himself and I  to go to the Taking Back Sunday concert at the House of Blue in downtown Houston on Saturday night. Turned out Katie wasn't able to get off work as originally planed,  so it turned into an unexpected date night for Ricky and I. Our family lives in a suburb about 45 mins north ( in the Woodlands area) of the actual city, so I was really excited to explore downtown Houston. The concert was a lot of fun, and I was surprised on how many songs I knew ; ) This was a 10 year anniversary tour of one of their albums.
Comcast cable's sports channel is housed in  the same complex as the House of Blues venue, and Ricky is standing in front of their live studio they were prepping for a show later that night. We were only a few blocks away from the Houston Rockets Arena and they were prepping for a live "after game" show.

Afterwards we explored the bar scene on Washington St., and I will admit it has changed my view of Houston for the better. Definitely not enough to move there, but it's growing on me for sure.

We we started our shenanigans for the evening at this bar.

Towards the end of our night we happened to drive by one of Ricky's sites and saw their banner. At the time we thought we were the funniest people in the world with this photo, ha ha. Afterwards not so much ; )

It was a great weekend that ended too quickly as usual. I have some stuff to post of last weekend, but time has just been flying by recently ( man do I feel old, lol). We have our 2nd annual Beer Olympics with our friends coming up this weekend as well as the new opening of the first US Formula 1 racetrack and 1st race this weekend. Not to mention Thanksgiving is next weekend, and we are traveling this year with a large group to FSU vs. UF game !!!! I'm beyond excited for the game it's been a few years since I was in Tally for a game!
Have a great week- Luv Di
